Solbjørk Anderson

Still in her early 20s, Solbjørk is excited to develop as a racer. She adores racing the spring classics as she loves punchy climbs and one-day races, though she dreams of becoming an all-rounder.

Her top results include placing fifth on the general classification in the 2024 edition of the Volta a Catalunya Femenina and sixth at the GP Oetingen that year. Last season, she finished third in the Danish road race national championships.

Solbjørk has been a fan of cycling since she was a small child when her parents turned on the TV for her and it happened to be a cycling race. She was hooked and soon evolved from fan to rider to racer. When she was eight, her dad took her to see Paris-Roubaix in person for the first time and it soon became an annual tradition for the two of them.

Solbjørk’s name is as unique as she is. It’s a combination of sol, the Danish word for sun, and Bjork, the Icelandic singer-songwriter. Her mother grew up on Solvej (Sun Street) and always liked how sol sounded. Her father, a longtime fan of Bjork’s music, enjoyed the idea of creating a unique name for their first child and they came up with Solbjørk.

She is an avid reader known to have multiple books on the go. Solbjørk’s bookshelves are full of fantasy and crime titles. She also experiments with watercolors, particularly nature scenes. Growing up, Solbjørk danced ballet for several years. Though she happily traded her pointe shoes for cleats, she still enjoys going to the ballet.

Fun Facts

What is your favorite word in your native language? What does it mean? What do you like about it?
Pyt is used to express that it will be okay and it doesn’t matter when something happens. If you spill milk on the ground, your mom or dad says, pyt pyt to comfort you. An amazing word, as it is also a bit an approach to life: you have to be able to say pyt to situations that you can't control, and not stress about it.

If you could time travel, what date/year would you visit and why?
Probably the late 80s or 90s: would love to see my parents as kids and young adults before they had me and also to experience the culture back then – before tech completely took over everyday life.

What is your favorite thing to do on a rest day?
Full on spa day: taking a long shower, hair mask, face mask, scrub, etc, and then taking my blanket from the bed to the couch and snuggling up with a cup of tea and a book or movie/series. A real hyggeday.

When you stop at a petrol station mid-ride, what do you get?
Always an orange or lemon Fanta and a bag of Haribo (either the Tropifruit mix or Softy mix) and a good cup of coffee, if there is time.
